Safety and Security of Women and Girls

Statement from the Human Rights and Social Justice Mission
On the Alarming Rise in Harassment and Violence Against Women in India
The increasing incidents of harassment and violence against women in India are a matter of grave concern. Across the country, women are facing horrifying challenges, including:
Sexual harassment at the workplace
Domestic violence
Rape and assault
Deliberate targeting of minority women through so-called “love traps” and forced religious conversions
These incidents have created an environment of fear and insecurity for women in society.
Public outrage is growing, and women are protesting across the nation. Shockingly, instead of ensuring justice, some members of political parties are involved in heinous acts, and convicted rapists are being welcomed with garlands upon release from jail—a shameful display of moral decay.
This culture of impunity, coupled with the lax attitude of the administration and failure of law enforcement, emboldens criminals and contributes to the alarming rise in such crimes.
The Human Rights and Social Justice Mission strongly condemns these acts. We demand:
That law and order be upheld
That the police and administration act with integrity and urgency
That the rule of the Constitution prevail
That strict and immediate action be taken against the culprits, regardless of their status or influence
We call upon every citizen to stand united against this injustice. Let us build a society where every woman feels safe, respected, and protected under the rule of law.
Jai Hind!
